Progressives for Symphony

During a symphony at the Kravitz center one Saturday afternoon, I closed my eyes and tried to imagine what a painting would look like with the music as the inspiration. You will notice that there are three movements, with different emotional intensity. At the bottom you might pick up the conductor’s podium and the rows of strings and brass angled as they were during the performance. The background is gesso, like a glue, mixed with sand from the local beach. I used it to bring the forms to life, as if waves of sound were crashing like waves on a beach. This is the first of my Triptychs and I  liked working on three panels at once.
