My friend Chuck Williams lived on a very secluded acre all the way out west in Palm Beach Country Estates. One day I stopped by and I had all my art gear in the car. The back yard had these interesting cacti that appeared to writhe like living undersea amoebae. This painting took all of one sitting and by sunset it was finished. The trick is to remember the source of the sun’s light and angle as the afternoon fades.
